MYOga

Join Yin instructor Shannon and Celeste Kostohryz, Owner of The Holistic Maternal Therapy & Wellness as we combine Myofascial Release (MFR) with Yin yoga poses as an approach to health and healing. MFR is a hands-on technique to apply gentle, sustained pressure and holds to stretch or release restrictions throughout the body. This course will teach you the principles of both MFR and Yin and you will leave with some self-treatment techniques to use on your own.

What is MFR?

Fascia is a continuous structure from head to toe that connects and intersects all areas of the body. Restrictions in the fascia can form in the body from injury, illness, stress, trauma, posture and pregnancy as a few examples. These restrictions can grow like roots on a tree throughout the body causing pain, tightness, decreased mobility and impinge the flow of body fluids. These restrictions can put lots of pressure on sensitive areas of the body. The restrictions cannot be seen on x-rays, MRIs or CT scans, but they can be seen and felt by a trained Myofascial Release Therapist.

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin incorporates yoga poses for longer holds and releasing into the pose to also work the fascial network in the body. Poses are held for several minutes and the breath is used to release into the poses and tissues working to release restrictions.

MFR combined with Yin is a great way to tap into the tissues of the body. Benefits can include pain relief, increased mobility, muscle recovery, stress reduction, and improved sleep. Class will include gentle hands-on assists and holds and self release techniques. Let us guide you along this journey to release and healing.
